Packing & storage

Wrap that is meant for a sailing, not for a Saturday across town.

Domestic blanket-wrap is not export packing. A household consignment that will sit in a groupage trailer, a shared container or a warehouse needs honeycomb, kraft, corner boards, and a list that still makes sense when a stranger opens the crate in Felixstowe.

We pack at origin in the UK or through surveyed partners abroad. Every carton and crate is numbered. The number on the tape is the number on the inventory, which is the number on the customs packing list. That is the whole method.

What full export packing includes

  • Room-by-room packing of kitchenware, glass, books, clothes and the contents of cupboards, into double-wall cartons.
  • Furniture wrap with blankets, corrugated board and, where the piece needs it, a timber crate.
  • Mattress and upholstery bags, appliance preparation, and disassembly of beds and tables with fittings bagged and taped to the frame.
  • A typed inventory issued before the vehicle leaves the street.

Fragile-only packing

If you want to pack clothes and books yourself, we can still take glass, ceramics, framed work, screens and instruments. That is the option most 1- and 2-bedroom moves choose. We will still refuse to load a self-packed carton that sounds like loose china.

Storage in the North West

When a tenancy starts after the vessel, or a visa stamp lands late, we store household effects in the Manchester area. Storage is charged by the cubic metre per week after the included arrival window on the quote.

Units are dry, alarmed and accessed by our team — this is not a self-storage corridor you wander with a trolley. Access for a partial delivery (beds first, books later) is arranged, not walk-in.

Pianos and large instruments

Uprights and grands are quoted as specialist lifts, not as “one more item on the van”. Climate and crating are part of the price.

Art and antiques

Framed work, sculpture and pieces with cultural-goods paperwork are packed to the object, with values declared separately for insurance and, where relevant, for relief.

Wine, bikes, gym kit

Bikes and gym equipment are ordinary household cargo. Wine is not: it is excise goods and sits outside ToR. Tell us before survey day.
