What we collect
If you enquire, we collect the name, email, phone number, origin, destination, move type and message you send, plus any packing lists, passport copies, visa evidence or ToR letters you later provide so that we can quote and clear a consignment. If you telephone, we keep a working note of the call. Server logs may record IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and fault diagnosis.
Why we use it
To reply to you and to perform a contract (or steps you request before a contract) for shipping, packing, storage or customs work. That is UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b). We also keep records we need for tax, customs and insurance (Article 6(1)(c)) and a limited record of past enquiries so we can recognise a resumed conversation (Article 6(1)(f), legitimate interests in running a small practice). Non-essential cookies are used only with consent (Article 6(1)(a)).
Passports and immigration documents
ToR and customs work requires identity and residence evidence. We ask for copies, not originals. They are used to prepare HMRC filings and carrier instructions, stored with restricted access, and not used for marketing. Do not send more of a document than the job needs.
Who we share with
Origin packing partners, shipping lines, road hauliers, warehouse keepers, insurers, and HMRC or other customs authorities, each only as needed for that move. We do not sell enquiry lists. Hosting and email providers process data in the UK or EEA, or under a documented transfer tool if a processor sits elsewhere.
Retention
Enquiries that do not become jobs are deleted or anonymised after 18 months. Job files, customs declarations and invoices are kept for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, which is what UK tax record-keeping requires. Cookie consent records are kept for 12 months.
Cookies
A strictly necessary record in local storage remembers whether you accepted or refused non-essential cookies (key: creatinsmart_consent). If you accept, we may use a privacy-respecting analytics measurement of page views. If you refuse, the site still works. You can clear the record in your browser and see the banner again.
Your rights
You may ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, or portability, and you may withdraw consent where we relied on it. Write to [email protected]. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather fix a problem directly first.
Children
This site is aimed at adults arranging a household move. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
